There are very few PCPs around who are also aviation medical examiners (AME). AME is a physician designated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform flight physical examinations and issue aviation medical certificates. All AMEs may issue second- or third-class certificates. Some AMEs may be designated as Senior Aviation Medical Examiners and issue first-class certificates, which are required for pilots flying all air carrier/airline operations.
